Kate Faulkner

Owner & Managing Director, Designs on Property

Kate is the UK’s leading independent property market analyst and the author of the Which? series of Essential Property Guides.  She splits her time between providing consultancy services to the property industry, and offering practical advice to help people carry out their property projects successfully.
 

Having gained degrees in Economics and Marketing, Kate spent the first 10 years of her working life building up considerable sales and marketing experience with Blue Chip FMCG companies, including Unilever, Sainsbury’s and Kraft Jacob Suchard.  She is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Chartered Institute of Marketing and also has an MBA in Entrepreneurship…all of which has given her a solid foundation for her property consultancy business.
 

Since buying her first property in the late ‘80s, Kate has traded up and down, renovated and refurbished, rented and let properties and studied the market through two recessions.  Over the past 11 years, since leaving corporate life, she has used her considerable business and property experience to help industry professionals achieve their sales and marketing goals, often through creating and implementing new products and solutions.  She rebranded and prepared for launch the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon; has worked with developers on their part-exchange services; consulted with sales and lettings agents to improve their businesses, and provided research and consultancy services to other companies in the property investment sector.
 

Truly passionate about property - and with a real flair understanding market trends - Kate is very well respected within the industry and sits on the judging panel of major industry competitions throughout the year, including Landlord and Buy to Let, Estate Agency and First Time Buyer Awards.  She has written 6 property books – 4 being the Which? Essential Property Guides – and regularly appears on both regional and national radio, as well as various topical TV programmes.
 

Extra random facts: Kate is a trained animal behaviourist and has worked with Battersea Dogs Home.  She is allergic to screw-top wine (seriously!) but loves champagne.
